EU: Countries and Innovation

The European Commission (EU) recently published data from the annual survey of the innovation among its member countries for 2019. This is the so-called European Innovation Scoreboard rankings.

The stats are more or less as expected, not much to add. Two comments are in place:

1. Although compared in this graph, innovation is not a competition between countries. We compete against ourselves, as it were.
2. As regards Bulgaria, citicens oftentimes blame the sad situation on this or that moribund public sector agency. In the final analysis, however, we are all responsible - individually and collectively - for the sorry state of affairs.
